Sock Sorting Sisters
Another family secret revealed to help you get your E-Newsletters out

The teams are poised for the competition. The athletes have trained all year. As a coach for the world famous Sock Sorting Sisters, I am eagerly awaiting this year's annual Laundry Olympics. What? You've never heard of the Laundry Olympics? Well, let me tell you about our 2008 Winter Games and how I coached my kids' athletics and my clients' E-Newsletters to victory!

The winter games are always exciting and include a variety of events from Laundry Boffing to Speed Drying. From the adrenaline rush of pure speed, to the feeling of power and majesty, the experience is unmatched.

Ironically, the Sock Sorting competition, the sport that I coach, is all about matching. The rules of the game are simple--the players are to seek out, correctly identify, and match the largest number of pairs of socks. Their sock-cess is limited only by the time on the clock and their raw skill. The team with the largest number of complete pairs will proceed to the next round. Teams compete head-to-head and toe-to-toe in a classic duel against international opponents. After years of intense training, the big day is finally here.

The torch is lit. The players trot proudly into the Olympic Arena. As the master of ceremonies heralds the arrival of the Olympians, the crowd roars for the local favorites: The Sock Sorting Sisters.
Immediately, after rousing opening ceremonies, the contests get right underway. As the coach, I collect the athletes and bring them to the playing field. They are brimming with excitement. Sock Sorting takes center stage on the turf in the Olympic stadium. There's a six-foot high mountain of socks just waiting to be sorted in the middle of the field. I have them do a few jumping jacks to keep warm. The officials get ready. The athletes move to the starting line. They assume their positions. Poised and ready for action. Their faces are intense. Muscles twitch. Their eyes are on the prize. The official shouts, "Go!" and the athletes race for the mound of socks. They flip through the assortment, eyes darting wildly. They deftly rifle the matches into their team piles. Yarns of all sizes and colors whiz by. Skillfully they choose the right ones. The team piles grow into mountains. A girl shouts, "Get the pink one!" and it just barely escapes the other team's grasp. The clock ticks loudly. Clunk! The timer stops. The players freeze.

As quickly as it began, it's over. The judges grab their clipboards and begin tallying the scores. They deduct points for non-matching pairs. While we await the results, one thing is clear: this competition will introduce the losers to the agony of de-feet. The officials convene for a conference and announce a winner. The Sock Sorting Sisters are triumphant!

This year I coached my team to victory. But how does this apply to you and your e-newsletters?

Here are three more ideas to make you and your e-newsletter a winner:

1) Make it a Game!
Don't be too serious. It's too easy to get stressed. Stay
loose and remember how much fun it is for you.

2) Reward Yourself
Whether you set your sights on a trophy, a colorful team
jersey, or another superbowl ring, choose a reward that
helps provides the motivation you need.

3) Hire a Coach
Even Cinderella had a coach. Coaches help keep you in
shape and on track. One of my clients once said
"Christine was just the kick in the pants I needed."

Make your e-newsletter creation a game. Your results will be un-pair-alelled.
